When we first got our vintage Scamp camper about 6 or so years ago I wanted to keep some of her original 80's features like the plaid covers on the cushions and the green fridge face.



I did change the curtains to a bright red floral with a matching pillow, switched out the cabinet knobs to a retro style mismatched set matching the curtains, and added a braid rug.  Here are some before pictures.





I have been feeling a shift and pull back to my old bohemian style and decided to give Colene a little makeover!  This weekend I switched out the curtains for a natural pallet with some rust orange browns and blue India influence pattern that I found on Ebay.  They were a discontinued Target Threshold brand.  I was going to shorten then but I actually like the length that they provide in the sleeping area.  Here are some after pictures.








I switched out the rug for a more boho style that would be easy to wipe down and then I also changed out the vintage sheet duvet cover with a India style tapestry duvet cover.  I found a few pillows and pillow covers at the thrift store and was all done with her makeover in about an hour.

I am debating on making a new set of cabinet pulls by decoupaging some boho style paper onto some wood pulls.  I am pretty thrilled with her new little makeover and hoping we can sneak in a little adventure before the weather gets super cold!






She made a pretty sweet little knitting nest yesterday!  The leaves in the neighborhood are amazing right now, the sun was shining, and I had a little cup of tea and was able to knit a few rows on my Midtown Cardigan!

Tis the season, but I do love a good ghost movie and story.  I was raised in an old farm house that my parents had remodeled.  I absolutely loved growing up in it and pretty certain it affected my inclination towards gothic genre in both reading books and movie watching.  My parents no longer live in that house but I have never forgotten it!

I had a little "knit your own adventure" during one of the fall soccer tournaments last month.  I don't hesitate to look up yarn stores where ever I am venturing.  I happen to find one that was a few miles from the soccer fields and hotel.  When I found out it was in an old house I was in heaven!



If you are in the St. Louis area stop by the Weaving Department at the Myers House off highway 270.  The whole lower half of the house is the yarn shop.  I am definitely going to make this one of my stops when I am in that area- I loved it!

Oh and they have a resident ghost also- bonus!  Be sure to check them out if you can!

Each fall my mama and sister follow the arrows that lead us to this sweet little Missouri town with a humble and lovely heritage festival.  Arrow Rock is a little town in which the whole village is deemed a historic site.  It is a little off the beaten path but we love it.  It also happens to be the home of one of my favorite yarn shops in these parts.

Last weekend we made our way there.  We each have stories about that wooden bowl or handmade pottery pumpkin that we got from the festival.  It had become one of our fall traditions.  I made my way along the festival seeking out some wooly inspiration and worked hard on not growing my yarn stash!

So I took plenty of pictures instead, hope you enjoy!

Amongst all of the tech that surrounds my day between work at my day job and wrangling and watching how much time my sons spend on their hand held computers, I find myself even more rooted in my hobbies.  Hobbies of working with small pieces of wood to create toys, twisting yarn on some sticks to create fiber, and now enjoying using plants to add color to these fibers.

I feel more rooted than ever before in wanting to carry on these hobbies myself and hoping to share with the next generation.  I value the technology that allows me to connect and research and share about these hobbies but instinctually I know that my soul needs these hobbies.



I spent a slow weekend working for the first time with madder root, an old ancient dye.  I have obtained a small bag of dried madder root from the natural dye workshop that I attended in September.  I decided to experiment on some more wool loops and some rustic churro wool.



I did not quite get to any reds but I had a lovely range of coral and rusty orange and I am hooked!  I am ready to do some more!  I used Carol Leigh's book as my guide and am excited to get some more madder root and play some more!
